Parent/Legal Guardian Guide

Guidelines for Parent and Legal Guardians

We look forward to collaborating with parents and legal guardians. Constructive communication between program staff, instructors, and families benefits the success of students. You can help us achieve our mutual goal of supporting your student by:

  • Reading all program communications and discussing the content with your student.
  • Making sure your student logs onto classroom sessions in a timely manner.
  • Making sure your student has a distraction free space to attend their sessions in.
  • Proactively contacting program staff by emailing spcs-studentlife@stanford.edu if you or your student have concerns or questions.
  • Asking your student how their experience in the program is going.

During the summer, parents and legal guardians are strongly encouraged to attend all three program orientations held in Adobe Connect with their scholars. Recordings will be made available after the live event.

End of Program Celebrations

Parents and legal guardians are invited to join their scholars to celebrate both the end of the summer program in July and the end of the Fall semester in December. SMSSP instructors and Stanford Online High School (OHS) staff will join scholars and their families as we highlight the year and applaud scholar achievements. We will also share information about preparing for the academic year program and joining our Alumni Network.
